MASONTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A fire broke out at the old Masontown School in Preston County Wednesday afternoon.

According to a post by the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department , multiple crews were called to the fire on South Main Street around 1:30 p.m. Additional tankers were requested because the town’s water system was down for service. However, the post said that the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department “made a quick knock down on the fire,” and the requested tankers were canceled before they arrived.

A photo posted by the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department shows minimal fire damage on the front of the building.

Kingwood firefighters commended the four crews who responded, saying they “worked as team and not as 4 different departments.”
