Quarry Fire burns 130 acres in Jeffco, causes hundreds of evacuations
A mandatory evacuation was underway for Deer Creek Mesa area, as well as Sampson and Maxwell subdivisions, as crews responded to the Quarry Fire in Jefferson County overnight. In an update early on Wednesday, the new Colorado wildfire was burning an estimated 130 acres with 0% containment. Roughly 575 homes were being evacuated in the respective subdivisions. According to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, a multi-agency response was being conducted along West Deer Creek Canyon Road about 3/4 miles west of Grizzly Drive. The fire happened last Sunday night at Señor Manuel Mexican Cuisine. near North Nevada and Austin Bluffs. The fire forced the family to shut down their restaurant and their livelihood.

12-foot sinkhole forms as pipe bursts, launching water 15 feet into air in Colorado
A pipe burst in Arapahoe County, causing a large sinkhole to form in the road. According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the 8-inch pipe burst underground in the 4300 block of E. Hinsdale Place. The resulting sinkhole was 12 feet wide, with water shooting 15 feet into the air in the residential neighborhood. The cause of the burst is unknown. The intersection of E. Hinsdale Pl. and S. Clermont Dr. was closed. Denver Water responded to the incident to put a temporary patch on the line, returning later for a more permanent repair. Gov. Jared Polis on Tuesday declared a disaster emergency as multiple wildfires are burning in Colorado and in some cases forcing evacuations. Under a plume of smoke, a slow procession of cars left the Masonville area on Glade Road Tuesday, after the Northern Colorado neighborhood was mandated to evacuate because of the Alexander Mountain Fire.
