There's no better feeling than meeting a new friend for the first time and instantly hitting it off. Such was the case for one Golden Retriever who received the surprise of a lifetime.

On June 11, 2024, a user by the name @goldengirlpacha delighted dog lovers with a TikTok video showing the moment Golden Retriever Pacha met her new best friend. Warning: the clip below may cause extreme joy!

"Everyone meet Bucket, the newest member of our family," the 59 second clip is captioned. "We can’t wait to watch them grow up together, we already know Pacha’s going to be the best big sister ever."

The heartwarming video begins with sweet Pacha patiently waiting on the couch for her "gift." Moments later, Pacha's dad walks in with Pacha's new sibling, a Golden Retriever puppy named Bucket, who is adorably positioned in an orange bucket (hence the name!) while little sister peers over the edge.

"Introducing Pacha to her new sister for the first time," the words say across the video. Pacha can't wait to get a closer look of Bucket, excitedly (but gently) wagging up to her new best friend to say hello and give lots of welcome kisses.

While Bucket seems unsure at first, Dad eventually places the good girl on the floor to get to know his big sister. We then get to see a cut of scenes thereafter of the two cuddling and relaxing together outside. It's the cutest thing you'll see today!

"I love when she walked away for a second with a massive smile on her darling face! This is her bestest day ever!!!" one person commented. "Omg Pacha is going to be the best big sister!" another added. Many others chimed in to share their congratulations for the excited Pacha.

Should You Get a Second Dog?

When you have one really good girl (or boy) like Pacha, it's only natural to want to give her a sibling to play with. Some dogs, however, do better solo. According to Spinnaker Veterinary Clinic in Somerset, Massachusetts, there are a few things to consider before making the leap. Not only will a second dog keep your dog company but it helps ease separation anxiety in a usually nervous dog. Having a sibling also helps ensure more exercise overall, and your older dog may even help with training your new addition.

The downside of expanding your fur family include your dog's possible feelings of being left out, or even territorial behavior that spans across toys, space in the home, and even you. It's important to make sure your dog is ready for a change this big.

The bottom line is, gifting your dog a dog can be a great way to enrich their lives—once you get past the initial period of introductions and schedules. If you ask Pacha, she wouldn't change a thing and she will surely take her role as big sister very seriously!
