Wild video shows the moment a heroic teenager commandeered a runaway motorboat and narrowly averted disaster, WMUR reported.

Massachusetts native Brady Procon, 17, was hanging out with his father, Jeremy, on the porch of their rental cabin near Smith's Cove on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee. "I was sitting on the porch and my dad yelled that there was an out-of-control boat in the wake zone," the teen recalled.

According to the Procons, the boat belonged to a local sailing association which holds summertime classes for young children. When the motorboat’s captain reached for one of the tennis balls used to teach turning methods, one of the children’s boats tipped over. The mast of the tipping boat hit the motorboat’s throttle , sending the captain flying into the water and the boat twisting in a continuous spiral.

The Procons and a neighbor helped to get the young children away from the boat. Brady then mounted his neighbor’s jet ski and the two headed for the out-of-control vessel. As they came up alongside it, Procon miraculously launched himself from the jet ski into the motorboat, where he was able to stop the engine and pilot the craft to safety as onlookers cheered.

“I didn't really think, it just came to me," Procon said of his heroic maneuver. "I'm a little—I'm realizing what I did—a little bit scared, but it was fun. I'd do it again.”

For the young hero, the impending danger outweighed any personal risk. “If [the boat] hit that dock, it would have ricocheted off and probably hit somebody’s house, dock, or people,” Procon told Western Mass News . “They were calling me a hero and all that, but I wouldn’t say I’m a hero,” he reflected. “I think anyone would have done that if they had that opportunity to do it.”

After his heroic act was picked up by national outlets, Procon posted one report on his personal TikTok with the caption, “I’m boat man.”

In the fall, the 17-year-old will report for Navy training, where he’ll certainly utilize his preternatural knack for commandeering watercraft. “To be in any military branch you have to have bravery I guess,” Procon mused. “I wouldn’t even count what I did as brave, but some sort of don’t think, just do.”
