CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Keep an eye to the sky. We’ll see mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers, with an occasional rumble of thunder for the rest of the day. Additional showers can be expected early tonight, with areas of fog. This rather unsettled pattern can be expected for the rest of the week. By Friday, a cold front will move through, clearing skies in time for the weekend. A couple of inches of rain will be possible during this period with locally higher amounts. A few months ago, we launched our 2024 Voter Guide by seeking voter feedback. And we are so energized to work with communities across central Virginia. Charlottesville Tomorrow has been producing a voter guide since its founding in 2005. Last year, we expanded to cover 58 local and state races in Charlottesville and 12 central Virginian counties. We saw a huge need for information in rural counties and did our best to fill the holes.
Flood warning issued until 1:30 Monday afternoon
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A flood warning is in effect until 1:30 this (Monday) afternoon. The National Weather Service says small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for a portion of central Virginia including Albemarle County and Charlottesville. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. At 729 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area.
