Valley Children’s Advocacy Center highlights need for services, support
STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) - The Valley Children’s Advocacy Center serves more than 300 children each year in the Staunton-Augusta County-Waynesboro region, along with Lexington, Rockbridge and Buena Vista, who have experienced sexual or physical abuse or who have witnessed violence. Staff provide services like trauma-informed counseling, family advocacy and forensic interviews.
Hearing for Waynesboro murder suspect continued until September
WAYNESBORO, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Waynesboro man charged in a fatal shooting last Tuesday morning will remain behind bars at least until his next court hearing. Jacob Preston Sipe faces two charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with the death of 33-year-old Trevor Hill of Waynesboro, who was found dead on the front porch of a home in the 400 block of James Avenue. A bond hearing scheduled for Thursday in Waynesboro General District Court was continued until September 10. Sipe, who was injured in the incident, was arrested and charged with two felonies, including second-degree murder, once he was released from Augusta Health. He is currently in Middle River Regional Jail.
