In partnership with The Repository, every Monday, Stark Community Foundation highlights positive happenings in our community. Here’s to Good News Mondays !

The Studio M gallery at the Massillon Museum features art exhibitions from established and upcoming artists, showcasing their artistic talent with a rotating schedule of shows, during which museum visitors can learn about the featured artist, enjoy their work and purchase pieces from their collection.

Studio M, which is on the second floor, is designed to connect museum visitors to artwork by emerging artists in the region. Artists are selected for the gallery schedule through an application process, and selected artists have over a year to prepare their pieces for the gallery and create a theme for the exhibition.

Most recently, Studio M featured the "Raw Material" exhibition, which showcased mixed-media paintings and an interactive installation by artist Katie Davis from the Columbus College of Art & Design.

Twice a year, Studio M features the solo work of a student or recently-graduated artist.

Massillon Museum invites students or recent graduates pursuing a bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts or master of fine arts in studio art at a Northeast Ohio university to apply for the three-week student exhibition opportunity. The application is open to students with junior or senior status, or those within one calendar year of their recent graduation date. Northeast Ohio-based remote students attending schools located outside of Northeast Ohio are also considered.

Outside of the two student features, Studio M’s Professional Exhibitions give artists residing on the east side of the Mississippi River the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in the gallery. Applicants may submit as individual artists, a two-person group or a three-person group.

All exhibitions are celebrated by an artist’s reception, and artists are also featured guests for Massillon Museum's podcast, MassMusings.

Student Exhibition applications are being accepted through July 28 for exhibitions that will be on display during the winter of 2025. Professional exhibition applications are also being accepted through July 28 for exhibitions scheduled for 2026-2027.
