Letter to the editor: It seems as though everyone is incompetent

Many of us see Donald Trump as a clear and present danger to the Constitution, and to the rule of law, but the Supreme Court can’t see it. Likewise, the 20-year-old man on the roof with a rifle was a clear and present danger to the candidate Trump, but the Secret Service couldn’t see it.

What is wrong with these people? This is truly some “weapons-grade” stupidity.

For anyone trying to understand our current political situation, I would highly recommend a book by the former New York Times reporter Nellie Bowles, called “Morning After the Revolution: Dispatches from the Wrong Side of History.” If I created a completely new title for this book, I might call it “Why Trump Is So Popular: A Guide for Democrats.”

The craziness of the political (so-called) right is not checked or balanced by reason, because the political left is just as crazy. As Bill Maher would say, they are “aggressively anti-common sense.” So, the bottom line is that everyone is incompetent. The Secret Service is incompetent, and the Supreme Court is incompetent. The Republican Party is incompetent, and the Democratic Party is incompetent.

A newspaper story about Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visiting China said the Biden administration complains that China is producing too much and moving too fast in its development of green energy products, such as solar energy, electric vehicles and lithium-ion batteries. I can just imagine the Chinese trying to understand the “inscrutable” Americans. Do we want more green energy in the world or don’t we? Shouldn’t this kind of “overproduction” be considered as a good thing?

If today’s China has a magical “superpower,” maybe it’s that they are just a little bit less incompetent than everybody else.
