MCTV, the Massillon Museum and the Downtown Massillon Association has invited families to participate in the 27th annual Fun Fest, which will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10.

Fun Fest is a lively, safe, educational, entertaining and enriching experience. The outdoor event will be centered on the lawn at the Massillon Museum at 121 Lincoln Way E, and Duncan Plaza and First Street SE.

    Highlights

The family-focused festival is free to attend. A few activities require a minimal charge. Nearly 90 local social service and first responder agencies, civic groups, churches, arts organizations and businesses will offer games, art projects, activities, and health and safety information stations.

Live music, dance, gymnastics, and an array of performances will fill the Duncan Plaza stage throughout Fun Fest. Families can visit the Massillon Museum galleries with no admission fee. Touch-a-truck vehicles, inflatables, balloon sculptures, stilt walkers, Ohio State University’s Bugmobile, Mad Science, a didgeridoo, drum lines, majorettes, Akron Children’s Museum Monster Mission, Akron Zoo, costumed characters and princesses, animals, and a train ride will highlight the event.

Children can spin for prizes, have their faces painted; play cornhole; create bracelets; pet animals; mine for gemstones; get temporary tattoos; toss a football; shoot hoops; talk to veterans in Veterans Memorial Park, and participate in dozens more free activities. They will take home free school supplies, sunglasses, balloons, hygiene supplies, books, and more. Krackpots Comedy Club (14 Lincoln Way West) will present a free family-friendly comedy show at 2:00 p.m., at the end of Fun Fest.

    Why attend?

In addition to the organizers – MCTV, Massillon Museum, and Downtown Massillon Association – Fun Fest’s sponsors include Massillon Eagles #190, Phil Elum, Massillon Webworks, YMCA of Western Stark County, Akron Children’s Hospital, Kiko Agency, Rising with Redline, Shearer’s, Rotary Club of Massillon, Farmers National Bank, and Top of the Viaduct. Fun Fest, originated and chaired by Elizabeth Gessner McAllister, is funded in part by Visit Canton and ArtsinStark through a cultural tourism grant.
