MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — The Mattoon Fire Department is investigating a fire that started at a mobile home on Wednesday morning.

At 7:33 a.m., firefighters arrived at the scene near Marion Avenue and South 7th Street. They found the abandoned home partially on fire. It nearly spread to three nearby structures, including an occupied mobile home. That resident was found to be okay.

Coles/Moultrie 911, Mattoon Police Department, Charleston Fire Department and Ameren assisted Mattoon Fire at the scene. No utility services were active in the fire home. Crews hosed down the exposed structures, as steam was starting to come out of them.

The fire department was able to control the fire before it could spread. It was completely put out within a half-hour and the scene was cleared at 9:12 a.m.

No one was hurt. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
