Downtown casino withdraws application to demolish historic building
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Belle of Baton Rouge Casino withdrew its application to demolish a historical building in downtown Baton Rouge. The casino was looking to tear down the “Maritime II” building and create additional parking but the appeal was withdrawn before the issue made it in front of the East Baton Rouge Metro Council.

Three people, including a 13-year-old, were arrested for drug crimes following a multiparish chase, Baton Rouge police said. On Tuesday, police were "on the interstate searching for drug traffickers," according to a news release from the department. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Interstate 12 east near Airline Highway, but the occupants fled in their vehicle.
Southeastern opens Community Music School registration
Registration is now open for the fall session of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Community Music School.
