Alexandria’s Summer Sidewalk Sale is returning to Old Town and Del Ray next month, followed shortly by Alexandria Restaurant Week. The annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, according to Visit Alexandria. The streets around Old Town and Del Ray will likely be lined with local boutiques setting up shop outside of their storefronts and offering discounted summer merchandise. Prince William supervisors approve home-based gun shop near Nokesville
The Prince William County Board of County Supervisors approved a special use permit for a home gun manufacturing and selling business near Nokesville on Tuesday. The permit allows for the continuation of an existing business, Mystikos Armament, which changed locations following the owner’s move to a 1.6-acre plot of land in the Brentsville District. The business, owned by Nokesville resident Neal Roddy, was recommended for approval two years ago by the county Planning Commission under a different address.
Leesburg’s Ashby Mae Children’s Boutique Set to Close
After eight years in business, Ashby Mae Children’s Boutique announced on social media that the store will close by the end of summer. Owner Debbie Thomas is closing her business because she is retiring. An official closing date will be set in the coming weeks but the boutique will be holding a retirement sale before then.

William Kenneth "Kenney" Grant, the founder and owner of the iconic West Virginia chain Gino's Pizza and Spaghetti House, has died. He was 94.Grant died Wednesday, according to an obituary posted by Beard Mortuary funeral home. Remembering William Kenneth "Kenney" Grant A native of Huntington, Grant founded Gino's in 1961. He gradually expanded the business, which currently has around 40 locations around West Virginia. Grant also owned several locations of another West Virginia staple, Tudor's Biscuit World.Grant remained committed to supporting the Huntington community throughout his life, including the Marshall Artist Series, the arts and entertainment organization for Marshall University."Kenney was a visionary, he was not one to be satisfied with being just another pizza place, he always wanted more for his hometown and tried to bring that to them," the obituary said. "In his attempt to become a successful businessman, Kenney never failed to forget his roots."He is survived by three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Reconstruction on O’Hurley’s General Store to take months
SHEPHERDSTOWN — On June 28, at around 11:30 p.m., a drunk driver careened around the corner of Highway 230 on his way into Shepherdstown and missed the curve. He ended up ramming his vehicle into a truck in front of O’Hurley’s General Store, pushing that truck through one of the store’s front windows, before his own vehicle was deflected into the other front window of the store, destroying the walls around that corner of the building.

Two more teens arrested in connection to deadly beating of 64-year-old DC man
WASHINGTON - The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of two additional teenagers in connection to the murder of 64-year-old Reggie Brown. On Thursday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested two more suspects, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, both from Northwest D.C.
