Infrastructure projects moving ahead in Parkersburg
A couple of project updates from Parkersburg. First, the water tower rehabilitation project will start sometime in August. The tower will need to be completely drained to perform the work, and a change order will probably be needed to cover the additional cost to keep the water pressure maintained using portable tanks being brought in to provide storage capacity.

Deere & Co. cut nearly 500 salaried workers in Iowa and Illinois, with 319 employees slashed at the iconic tractor and combine manufacturer's global headquarters and production facility, both in Illinois, according to notices the Illinois Commerce and Economic Opportunity released Friday. Sonepar to Acquire Echo Electric Supply
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sonepar announced Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Echo Electric Supply Company. Family-owned and operated since 1950, Echo Electric supplies electrical parts, equipment and services to contractors in the industrial, commercial and residential markets and ranked in the top 30 of Electrical Wholesaling’s 2024 list of the largest electrical distributors in North America. West Nile Has Been Found in Iowa Mosquitoes
The good news is that at the time of writing, no humans in Iowa have yet tested positive for the West Nile virus. Mosquitos on the other hand have been found containing the virus in central Iowa. According to KCRG, mosquitoes were trapped at a park in West Ames sometime in mid-July. The park where these mosquitoes were found is sprayed or fogged every Wednesday night. Some of these mosquitoes contained the West Nile virus.
