Grundy Center Historical Society hosting first Garden Tour
GRUNDY CENTER – As many people know, Grundy County is known for its good, black dirt that benefits the farmers with high production of corn and soybeans, but that black dirt enhances the production of some beautiful gardens in the area. The Grundy Center Historical Society is hosting its first Garden Tour from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 14.
Dale Wambold receives inaugural Reinbeck Citizen Spotlight Award
REINBECK – Dale Wambold may not have been born and raised in Reinbeck – or even Grundy County, for that matter – but after spending nearly four decades living in, working for, and giving back to the small town community he loves, Wambold has certainly earned his Reinbeck cred. Which is why the retired public educator was recently honored with the first annual ‘Reinbeck Citizen Spotlight Award’ — an inaugural effort by the Reinbeck Development Board to ‘spotlight’ a local citizen who “inspires and empowers our community to thrive through collaborative projects that drive sustainable growth and well-being.”
Grundy Center City Council votes to keep local police department
GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center Police Department will remain on the local beat – for now. During the Grundy Center City Council meeting held on July 1, the council took action on a resolution that – had it passed – would have authorized a dissolution of the City’s police department ordinance to pursue a 28E agreement with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services.

Several hundred fish in Iowa died in January after a faulty pipe released chlorinated water into a local waterway.
