Opening for section of N.C. 540 stalled by Tropical Storm Debby
RALEIGH, N.C.(WNCN) — Tropical Storm Debby has stalled the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s plans to open a new section of N.C. 540. The new 18-mile section was scheduled to open at the end of the month with a ribbon cutting scheduled for Aug. 27. NCDOT now says the section is likely to open in September, instead with a ribbon cutting moved to line up with the new opening date.
