Mays Landing man accused of fatally stabbing landlord

A Mays Landing man is accused of fatally stabbing his landlord inside the residence Wednesday.

Police were called to 789 Park Road at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday for a stabbing in progress, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Solomon Lonner, 49, of Lakewood, Ocean County, was found inside with multiple stab wounds, according to the report.

He was taken to At lantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus in Atlantic City, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Michael Carney, 39, was detained at the residence, and charged with murder and weapons offenses.

Carney r ented the home from Lonner with several other individuals.

The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Ex aminer’s Office.

This incident is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department.
