MANASQUAN — When CJ Holowach died from a cardiac arrest after taking a mixture of kratom and Adderall while awaiting arm surgery, his mother, Trish Bossone, contacted her state representatives and sought legislative change. CJ’s Law, the informal name for Bill A3797 that then emerged, continues to move forward through the state government on the path to potentially making kratom illegal in New Jersey.

Changes coming to temporary registration tags from NJ Motor Vehicle
On July 1, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission announced that it will begin distributing new temporary registration tags or “temp tags.”. The new tags are set up with a new format that will enhance security features and reduce fraud. This change follows the P.L.2023, c.285 law which aimed to authorize new tags with security measures and procedures. The law also establishes penalties and fines to those who knowingly possess, issue, or display fraudulent temporary tags.
