Gwinnett County Firefighters Respond to Two House Fires on July 17th
On Wednesday, July 17th, Gwinnett County firefighters responded to two house fires within hours of each other. The first fire occurred around 1:19 p.m. at a residence on the 4800 block of Bill Cheek Road in Auburn. The Ring Security System alerted the occupants to a fire in the garage. All residents and pets safely evacuated before firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze. The fire, which originated in the garage, is under investigation.
Commissioners seem supportive of new west side development
Athens-Clarke County commissioners seemed largely supportive on Tuesday of a proposal that would bring 227 new single-family homes to the county’s west side. The new subdivision, if approved, would be built near Cleveland Road and close to the Caterpillar plant. It would also incorporate a modest amount of commercial space.
Pregnant Georgia girl, 16, found dead by roadside as ex-boyfriend charged with lying to police
Georgia police are investigating the death of a pregnant 16-year-old girl, identified as Mia Campos. According to the Gwinnett County police department, the teenager's body was found around 1 a.m. on Monday, July 1 when officers were called to a residential area in Loganville. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
