MVFC/UND Schedules ’25, ’26 Football Games
The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks football team is set to kickoff its 2024 season against Iowa State on August 31st, but the university and the Missouri Valley Football Conference have already been working hard to schedule some games for the upcoming 2025 and 2026 seasons. Here are some that were scheduled that don’t feature conference scheduled games against teams like NDSU, SDSU, and USD.

Jamestown Getting A New Hockey Rink
Jamestown is getting a new outdoor hockey rink. The new facility would replace the aging, rudimentary structure at McElroy Park and be designed large enough to host Hockey Day North Dakota in the future. The Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved a predesign and engineering agreement with Interstate Engineering. The Commission indicated that many of the items needed to construct the new rink would likely be donated. In other Commission news, they also unanimously approved a renovation to Nickeus Park, with the agreement with Interstate Engineering as well.

Michelle Christopherson, University of Minnesota Crookston Director of Outreach and Engagement, stopped to visit recently about the Allen & Freda Pedersen Community Garden. The garden is located on City-owned land next to the City’s Valley Technology Park on the north side of the University of Minnesota Crookston campus on County Road 71.“This is a plot of land we have utilized through the years with Allen and Freda Pederson, former community members, long-standing residents, and Dr. Dan Svedarky, Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota Crookston and the former City Administrator Shannon Stassen,” says Christopherson.”
DEBBIE KOPECKY FINDS THE 2024 OX CART DAYS MEDALLION
Debbie Kopecky of Crookston found the Ox Cart Days Medallion on Thursday afternoon. Debbie loves puzzles and prides herself on being able to solve them. Kopecky said she found the medallion out by the corner of what once was a bread store just past Happy Joe’s and The Museum.
PARTY AT THE POOL WAS A SPLASH
This afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 the community was treated to a free afternoon of swimming sponsored by Fin & Fit of Crookston. This event, part of Ox Cart Days fun was intended to get people out and spend time at the beautiful pool Crookston has. The doors were open to the outside patio where Fin & Fit of Crookston, along with other volunteers, were serving snacks and drinks to the swimmers. The pool was packed. There were kids visiting, drawing with chalk on the patio and really enjoying the property as a whole. Children of all ages, families, and young adults were splashing, swimming, and having a great time.

We all slogged through the torrential downpour on Tuesday, so we were prepared for another drenching - we moved inside - and once again Mother Nature threw curve balls at us, and wouldn't you know it, not a drop of rain fell.
