Bombers 9U youth baseball team wins Kasson tournament
The Cannon Falls Bombers 9U youth baseball team won the tournament in Kasson the weekend of June 15 with a perfect record of 3-0. The Bombers beat the Byron Bears 9U ZVL 5-4, defeated the Rochester Tornadoes 9U 4-3 and were victorious over Kasson-Mantorville 7-5. The wins over Byron and Rochester were both on walk-offs. In the win over Byron, Vince Pagel singled to drive in the game-winning run and Kooper Taube drove in four runs. Against Rochester, Charlie Stark was the hero with the game-winning single. Stark hit an inside-the-park grand slam against K-M. Bennett Banks, Graham Rechtzigel, Stark and Taube all pitched against Byron while the combination of Banks, Rechtzigel and Stark earned the win on the mound against Rochester. Against K-M it was the duo of Banks and Rechtizgel who pitched. The little Bombers host Randolph at the Archie Swenson Fields on Tuesday, July 16, and then have their end of the season tournament in Stewartville on July 28.
