Music Spotlight: Colony House
When I got the press release that a Nashville-based rock band, Colony House, was releasing their fourth studio album on February 3rd, 2022, I was intrigued because, in this town, we don’t have a lot of modern rock bands. All four band members are from Tennessee with two being from Franklin.

Building a Better Teacher Pipeline with Grow Your Own
Tennessee is a unique state, not only because we have incredibly talented citizens, but because of our geography. We border eight states. That can be an advantage and a disadvantage at times. When economic times are good, people want to relocate to our state. When economic times are difficult, it allows residents to move to a neighboring state and pursue more money in their chosen occupation. In education, we lose teachers to our border states regularly. Additionally, we must address state policies that are pushing teachers out of the profession.

Music Spotlight: Noah Hicks
If there is one thing that means something to me in country music, it is authenticity. Are you singing your truths or just latching onto the newest country fad?. Noah Hicks is probably the most authentic country guy I have ever interviewed. He is a fifth-generation farmer from Carrolton, Georgia. The land he tilled with an air-conditioned tractor is the land his grandfathers plowed with a mule.

Inspired from Personal Cancer Journey, One Middle Tennessee Woman Purses Nursing Career
Just two days before Yvette Love’s 46th birthday, she heard the six-letter word she never thought she would. “The nurse told me I had cancer,” Yvette recalls. “I was getting ready to spend the weekend in Gatlinburg,Tennessee with my husband when I began feeling pain in my lower right quadrant.” Yvette was also experiencing common symptoms such as lower back pain, bloating, acid reflux, frequent urination with some incontinence, and feeling out of shape. “All symptoms we, as women, often face and push to the side,” said Yvette. Since Yvette's husband was retired from the Army, it was a nurse practitioner on post who informed her about the large cancerous mass on her stomach.
States With the Highest Rent-To-Price Ratios
With both real estate and rental prices rising quickly over the last two years, U.S. households that don’t currently own a home are facing a major affordability crunch. The residential real estate market took off shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began. Boosted by increased savings, low interest rates, and government stimulus programs and motivated by a desire for more living space, buyers rushed into the market. The increased competition sent home prices to record heights. But now, with interest rates rising in efforts to cool the market and higher prices being a new normal, many would-be buyers have been priced out.
