McALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Court documents revealed new details in a McAllen murder investigation that resulted in the arrest of a man and woman.

Nathan Germain and Carmen Lizeth Valdez were both arrested on charges of murder in connection to the death of David Martinez, police said.

A probable cause affidavit stated that on July 15, officers found a man dead with gunshot wounds at the 1300 block of S. 19 1/2 Street, in McAllen.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, identified as Martinez, dead with multiple gunshot wounds. The document stated that Martinez was shot in the head and multiple spent casings were recovered from the scene.

Detectives later viewed a video that shows Germain arriving in a white Chevy SUV with Valdez, the affidavit stated.

“The video shows [Germain] exiting the vehicle, walking into the residence and then multiple gunshots can be heard,” the document details.

Investigators learned that Germain concealed the weapon that was used inside a drawer at his residence, located on Ortiz Circle in Donna.

Authorities discovered text messages from Valdez’s phone, which showed that she was texting Germain while he was inside the residence and “appeared to be acting as a lookout,” the affidavit stated.

Germain and Valdez were taken into custody and booked into the Hidalgo County Jail on Tuesday. In addition to the murder charge, Germain is facing charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $370,000.

Valdez is facing additional counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of a dangerous drug. Her bond was set at $201,000.
