Arson investigation after blaze damages property in Chillicothe
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a fire that caused damage to a fence and other items in an alleyway between East Fifth and East Fourth Streets on July 28. At approximately 5:16 a.m., emergency services responded to a report of a fire in the alley. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who had discovered the blaze while walking through the alley. The witness, who did not have a phone, asked a nearby resident to call 911. The witness also noted seeing two individuals on bicycles in the vicinity but was unsure if they were connected to the fire.
Two houses hit by gunfire on Chillicothe’s east side
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating two homes hit by gunfire on South Sugar Street on July 27. According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers responded to 82 S Sugar St. on reports of a house that had been hit by bullets. Officers arrived and found a spent 9mm round on a living room couch. The resident reported hearing 4-5 popping noises resembling gunshots around 2 a.m. but did not investigate further at the time. Later, upon returning home, the resident noticed a bullet mark on the wall, a hole in the front window, and damage to a curtain. Photographs were taken of these damages.

Mingo man charged with vehicular homicide after DUI crash in Pikeville
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Mingo County man faces charges of vehicular homicide and assault, following a DUI crash Friday afternoon. Police say Chad Blackburn, 36, of Red Jacket, showed signs of impairment following the crash, which occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on U.S. 119, near the intersection with U.S. 23 in Pikeville. After failing a field sobriety test, he was immediately arrested for DUI.

At 1:05 a.m., officers observed a white truck, identified by its license plate MI/EJD8387, failing to stop for a red light at North Bridge Street and Riverside Street.
