As an ode to what many locals call "the tastier peach state," The City of Gaffney celebrated South Carolina peaches for the 47th year with the annual Peach Fest. The festival began on July 11 and wrapped up on July 20 with a parade down Limestone Street, a pageant at Limestone University, carnival rides, vendors, and wrestling at Henry L. Jolly Park.

Person killed in crash involving motorcycle near Rock Hill, troopers say
ROCK HILL, S.C. — One person was killed after a head-on crash involving a motorcycle in York County on Wednesday, South Carolina Highway Patrol said. The crash happened just after 5 p.m. about 2 miles west of Rock Hill on Paraham Road. Troopers said a 2004 Harley-Davidson traveling along Paraham Road when a Honda SUV on Windy Run Lane hit the motorcycle. Two people on the motorcycle were taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where the passenger died from their injuries.

Jeffery Wayne Miller, 67, of Gaffney, S.C., and formerly of Montgomery, Pa., passed away July 21, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. He was born November 1, 1956, in Williamsport, Pa., the son of the late Wayne and Alta (Wineguard) Miller. He is survived by his companion and wife of 32 years, the former Linda Swisher.
