Church announces groundbreaking date for first temple in Kansas
SALT LAKE CITY — A groundbreaking ceremony for the Wichita Kansas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held later this year. The First Presidency has announced the ceremony will be held on Sept. 7., according to a news release. Elder Steven R. Bangerter, first counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency, will preside at the event. The temple was first announced in April 2022 by President Russell M. Nelson.

Herzog attended Newman University from 2007-2011 and was confirmed in St. John’s Chapel on campus in 2009. The Salina City Commission held a public hearing at its regular meeting yesterday, July 23 to decide whether to list the Ambassador Hotel as a dangerous structure. The seemingly abandoned 192-room hotel, located at 1616 W. Crawford Street in Salina, has been owned by various chains since it opened in the 1980s under its first name, "The Holiday Inn Holidome."
