Short manhunt, arrests made just south of Ellinwood
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, at about 10:15 a.m., deputies with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office stopped a maroon Ford Focus in the 100 block of Southeast 105 Avenue. The location was near the river bridge, just south of Ellinwood. When the deputy stopped the vehicle, the driver exited and fled on foot into the riverbed.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - State agencies are trying to fill over 600 jobs statewide. 200 of those openings are located in the capital city. Barton Co. deputies make drug arrests following traffic stop
On Aug. 25, at about 5 p.m. Barton County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 11th and Williams in the city of Great Bend. A 2002 Chevrolet Blazer was stopped for a traffic infraction. The actions of the occupants appeared suspicious to deputies, therefore Menta, the sheriff’s office K-9 was deployed. The dog indicated the presence of controlled substances. During the course of the investigation, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.
