BALTIMORE — The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Baltimore Metro into northeast Maryland and the Eastern shore under a level 1/5 risk for strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening. Most of the storms should be isolated if they develop. More widespread rain and storm chances are likely tomorrow. The main threats today are damaging winds and hail. $7.5 million in grant funding awarded to Baltimore area for safety and community development
BALTIMORE -- The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development announced a $9.75 million investment into 108 projects on Thursday to improve the health and safety of Maryland neighborhoods through the department's Community Health and Safety Works (CHSW) program. The Baltimore region, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, and Harford counties, along with Baltimore City, received a combined $7.5 million to support 81 projects. Local governments and nonprofit organizations are eligible for CHSW grant funding by implementing crime prevention strategies through physical design improvements, operational activities, and other community-centered strategies. SALISBURY, MD - The Salisbury Police Department launched a death investigation over the weekend after a girl's body was found in the Wicomico River. According to police, local fishermen notified them of the body in the North Prong of the Wicomico River near Isabella Street on July 27th at about 1:30 p.m.

MCFRS Responds to Outlet Fire in ICU Room of Hospital Monday Morning
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to 8600 Old Georgetown Rd in Bethesda for an outlet fire in the ICU room of Suburban Hospital. According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, the small fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries. Units on scene are working to clear out any smoke before releasing property back to hospital staff.
