BALTIMORE - A team of archeologists is digging up clues of the past at the historic Hammond-Harwood House in downtown Annapolis to learn more about the life of the residents from 200 years ago.The Hammond-Harwood House on Maryland Avenue was built in 1774 and commissioned by wealthy planter and politician Mathias Hammond. Hygea Healthcare celebrated the grand opening of a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center in Middle River with Gov. Wes Moore and many other state officials on Monday. Doors opened to Hygea Middle River, the cutting-edge, 50-bed, 30,000 square-foot substance abuse treatment center located at 1210 Middle River Road. The facility’s goal is to disrupt the traditional approach to treating people with addiction.
Face painting, magic shows, and petting zoo are highlights of Children’s Day at Carroll County Fair
Children flocked to the vendor area at the Carroll County Agriculture Center in Westminster Tuesday for face painting, a magic show, music, a petting zoo and sidewalk chalk, all meant to teach them more about agriculture and farming. It was the 127th Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair’s annual Children’s Day, when children and their parents are welcome to wander the fair, stopping to get their faces painted, pet a calf, goat, pig or pony, and watch the Agricadabra and Hypnosis Show, Cowboy Circus and Hot Dog Pig Races. Sweta Sharma, of Sykesville, and her daughter, Rhea, 5, stopped at the petting zoo and the Agricadabra and Hypnosis Show. Sharma, who attended the fair as a way to spend the day with her daughter, said the magic show was “amazing.”
