Two Broome County Fire Departments Receive Federal Funds
Two fire departments in the Southern Tier have been awarded a portion of nearly $1.5 million in federal funding that will be used for gear, training, and more. Senators Schumer and Gillibrand announced that $1,478,994.39 has been awarded to a total 16 fire departments across the state. The two Southern Tier fire departments that received money are the Village of Whitney Point Fire Department and the City of Binghamton Fire Department.

Cortland Fire Department receives federal funding
CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – The City of Cortland and its firefighters will benefit from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding. The Cortland Fire Department (CFD) has been awarded about $48,000 for new protective gear and training through DHS FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). Binghamton, Elmira, and Whitney Point join Cortland as Southern Tier winners. Nearly $1.5 million is headed to 16 departments across the state, including the City of Auburn and Moravia in Cayuga County.
