According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office - District of Kansas, a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Kan., returned an indictment for eight men on charges related to a drug trafficking ring in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Annual Furniture Amnesty Day held in City Park
The 2024 Furniture Amnesty Day in Manhattan will occur 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26 in City Park. FAD is an annual event which allows Manhattan residents to donate old furniture, letting others pick up the old furniture at no cost. According to the Kansas State Staley School of Leadership, 355 pieces of furniture were saved from landfills at last year’s event.

Kansas firefighters head west to battle raging wildfires
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Firefighters from across Kansas are heading west to help battle wildfires in Oregon and Idaho. On Thursday, the Kansas Forest Service said a team of 10 firefighters from different parts of the state, including Wichita, Olathe, Ottawa, and Edwardsville, are on their way to assist the Oregon Department of Forestry with 34 large fires, almost all of them in the central or eastern part of the state.
