(Review) Lola Rose: Neighborhood Dining Gem in North Mt Pleasant

Located at 3540 Park Avenue Blvd. (across from Costco) the establishment is perfectly situated to serve an area that is growing by leaps and bounds. As well placed as they are they still need to deliver.

My wife and I arrived just as the doors opened at 4 pm. We chose a roomy and comfortable booth. We were served immediately by a pleasant waiter with a jug of water for the table.

We shared a fried calamari appetizer that came with lemon and tartar sauce, which, although a bit different, was excellent. We also shared a roasted peach salad with stracciatella, spiced pecan crumble, watercress, and aged balsamic. The salad did not disappoint.

For our main course, we split the special pizza of the day, which was a BLT. It had an excellent crust with a combination of bacon, ricotta, cherry tomatoes, and arugula. The pizza had a gourmet, brick oven vibe—again, outstanding. We finished with the daily special dessert, a light panna ( italian custard) cotta with blackberries, peaches, and a crumble.

The bill came to $58. we both drank water.

In an area loaded with excellent food chhoices, Lola Rose should fit right in.
