The two major chains plan to open new stores in Georgia in the near future.

Aldi, the Batavia, Illinois-based grocer, has announced on its website that a new store is coming to Thomasville. It will be located at 1530 East Jackson Street. The only indication on timing is "coming soon." The new location will be the 82nd in Georgia. Aldi operates around 2,400 stores nationwide.

Thomasville is on the states southern tier about 35 miles north of Tallahassee, Florida.

A recent report from the local news site MHFNEWS confirms plans for a new Publix in Locust Grove. The report states that land clearing has begun at Highway 42 and Tanger Blvd, and signage for the new Publix has been erected. The store is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Locust Grove is roughly 35 miles south of Atlanta.
