Two national grocery chains have announced plans for expansion in the Palmetto State.

Aldi, the Batavia, Illinois-headquartered grocer, will be opening a new market at 856 Folly Rd. in Charleston. This store will become the company's 51st location in the state. Aldi currently operates over 2,400 stores nationwide. The new Charleston store will be Aldi's third location in the area, joining established outlets in North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant.

Sprouts Farmers Market, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, is set to open its second store in South Carolina. The new location will be at 2435 E. North St. Ste. 1106, in Greenville. This will be only the second Sprouts in the state, with the other being in Simpsonville. The grand opening is scheduled for September 27th.

As for the new Aldi store, no opening date has been announced yet.
