MANSFIELD — Acting executive director Lynn Hoover stopped by the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library this week for a town hall with local educators. Doctors warn about the rise of Pertussis in the United States this year
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Mercy Health doctors are warning of the rise of Pertussis cases, also known as Whooping Cough, around the United States. The Center for Disease Control says there have been nearly 5,000 cases reported so far this year, which is around three times higher than the total number of cases in 2023. The respiratory disease is spread through droplets in the air and can have serious effects on young children and babies. Doctors recommend if you are feeling sick to distance yourself from young children, and to stay on top of your kids' and your vaccines.

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima Senior standout and her classmates are helping other Spartans head back to school with the tools they need to succeed. Caterrion Thompson is coming off a pretty good season with the Women’s British Basketball League’s Oaklands Wolves, where she was the leading scorer and helped lead her team to the championship game. Now she and Lima’ 2016 class want to help give back to the community, by providing bookbags and school supplies for around 200 students.. Besides the giveaway, there were vendors, a bounce house, face painting and food. The goal of the event is to help with the educational and social needs in Lima.
