Key pitcher announces return to Ole Miss baseball for 2025 season
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Another vital member of the Ole Miss baseball pitching staff has announced that he will return to the Rebels for a fourth season. This after Pearl native and eventual Friday night start at the latter end of the 2024 season Riley Maddox announced that he would be staying in Oxford for 2025.

Jackson Public Schools announces largest pay increase in district history
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Public Schools Board of Trustees approved new salaries and pay rates for teachers and hourly paid staff. Teachers will receive an increase in their local supplements. Teachers with 0-20 years of service will receive $5,000. Teachers with 21-30 years of service will receive $5,250. Teachers with over 31 years of service will receive $5,500.

DJ Layton, a Southern Miss shortstop signee, went in the sixth round to the Baltimore Orioles; starting pitcher Niko Mazza was taken in the eighth round by the San Francisco Giants; junior college transfer pitcher Lucas Elissalt was picked by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round and center fielder Dalton McIntyre was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in Round 19.
