UPDATE 12:45 PM: Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer says 20-year-old Ashton Challender is the man who died riding an ATV early Sunday morning. Stringer says, after a fight with a relative, he took off on an ATV at around midnight. At some point he crashed on a dirt road off of Topton Road. The sheriff says family members began looking for him around one in the morning and found him and the ATV. The sheriff says darkness and rough terrain were likely factors in the crash. Officials continue their investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY: MCINTOSH, Ala. (WKRG) — One man is dead after the crash of an ATV that kills the driver. A post on the McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department page says crews responded to an ATV crash at about 2 Sunday morning.

The post says they arrived to find the ATV had flipped over and the man was pinned underneath and killed. It happened on a hunting road two miles off of Topton Road. The post thanks the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, McIntosh Police Department and ASAP EMS for their assistance.

The post does not say how the crash happened or who died. We’ve reached out to Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County 911 office and are waiting to hear back.
