HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (KFVS) - A man was arrested by Hopkinsville police after an almost two-month-long investigation. According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, on August 30, detectives and officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department Crime Suppression Unit arrested John “Jay” Smith. Smith was arrested for an arrest warrant charging him with 68 counts of “distribution of obscene matter more than one unit of matter.”

Pennyrile Electric and HES Customers To Feel TVA Rate Increase In October
Pennyrile Electric customers will feel the effects of a TVA rate increase when they pay their electric bills in October. Pennyrile Electric Vice-President of Member Services Brent Gilkey says TVA’s recent announcement of a 5.25% wholesale rate increase, to fund ongoing construction and energy development, will be reflected on Pennyrile Electric member’s bills beginning October 1st. In addition, Gilkey says there will also be an increase to the monthly customer charge in the amount of $3.00 to aid Pennyrile Electric in recovering rising fixed costs. The average monthly residential bill will have an overall increase of $7.00 – $8.00, depending on usage.
Barbeque Shack Too Possibly Reopening In September
Barbeque Shack Too owner Mindy Hargrove says the popular restaurant in Herndon could reopen for business as early as September 12th. Hargove says the roof of the pit area collapsed as the result of the fire Wednesday, with the dining area sustaining major smoke and water damage. She adds the fire apparently began as they were cooking meat on the pits to sell on Thursday. Hargrove owns the business, with the building owned by Knockum Hill Barbeque founder Will Hargrove. Hargrove says they are currently waiting on the insurance adjusters to finish their work and turn the building back over to them before they can begin working on a temporary plan to reopen.
