Man Dies After Assault North of Fairview
The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that 68 year old Valentine Ene from Arizona died several days after receiving injuries during an assault on June 1, 2024. Detective Brandon Kindred stated that the incident took place on private property on the North Dakota side of 32nd St NW, Fairview.
Man arrested for DUI after high-speed chase in McKenzie, Billings Counties
WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KUMV) - A man was arrested Thursday night after leading McKenzie County deputies on a high-speed chase on Highway 85. Deputies said they tried to stop 43-year-old Alfred Clark around 9 p.m. south of Watford City for speeding. Clark did not stop and continued speeding, reaching 120 miles per hour at times. A spike strip eventually stopped him 55 miles south of the initial location.

Mark Honstein, McKenzie County veterans service officer honored and awarded 10 McKenzie County veterans with a Quilt of Valor from Watford City's own Prairie Rose Quilters. The Quilts of Valor mission is to provide comforting and healing quits to veterans and service members who have been "touched by war", to say thank you. The Prairie Rose Quilters have made many quilts for the Quilts of Valor.
Man pleads not guilty in fatal shooting in McKenzie County
WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KUMV) - A Watford City man accused of killing a woman last year has pleaded not guilty in a McKenzie County courtroom. Hugo Hernandez is charged with negligent homicide and discharge of a firearm after police say he shot a woman in the abdomen, killing her. Hernandez was later arrested in Gillette, Wyoming, in April.
