    On Feb. 6, McLeod battled Union Grove in a district battle. The boys’ team defeated Union grove 6233 in their first meeting, but the Lady Longhorns fell to the Lady Lions in its first meeting between the two schools.

    Longhorns

    The boys’ team faced a scrappy Lions’ team but McLeod still prevailed 66-51.

    McLeod (32-3) had a slight 22-19 lead after one quarter of play and extended its lead to 36-24 at the break.

    A 30-27 run in the second half for the ’Horns was a little closer than wanted but it was enough for Mc-Leod to seal a victory.

    Kannon Dempsey added another double-double to his season stats as he racked up 26 points with 10 rebounds, Grayson Owens added 14 points with eight boards, Jaxon Smith posted eight points with 10 rebounds, Jase Deaton had seven points and Colton Spence poured in six points.

    In the JV game McLeod rolled 45-20 with Brayden Bascombe putting up 13 points.

    Lady Longhorns

    The girls’ game was a tight affair throughout the contest as the teams were tied 11-11 at the break.

    A 14-6 run by the Lady Lions gave Union Grove a 25-17 win over the Lady Longhorns.

    Kenslee Cross posted seven points, Jacqulyn Shepherd added five, Rylee Parker three and Lila McKnight two.
