Realtor Miloud Bahadi was installed as the West Pine Bluff Rotary Club president Thursday at a ceremony inside the Pine Bluff Country Club. Arkansas State Corvette Association Meets in Hope
A State Corvette Association met on Main Street between Tailgater’s and Hebrews 11:1 for a meet and greet on Saturday. The Association is based in Little Rock and has members from all over. They have 100 members; their membership requirements are $100 and owning a Corvette to get in. Next weekend they will be at the National Convention Center in Shreveport. Hope City Director Reginald Easter presided over the event where prizes were announced. The winners were: Willie Harris 1st Place, Ben Willie Rose 2nd Place, Billie Brooks 3rd Place, and Willie Mays 4th Place. Sharon Caldwell was given a Thank You prize for her involvement. JR Richardson from the Arklatex Corvette Club in Texarkana was a class winner. The Grand Prize of a Klipsch speaker went to Margaret McLaughlin from Big Mac’s BBQ. Backyard Barbecue served food at the event.
Country singer Justin Moore, philanthropist awarded honorary degrees at ASU Three Rivers
MALVERN, Arkansas — During the Spring Commencement Exercises, Justin Moore and Rodney Allen were each given the highest honor any institution can give: an honorary degree. Moore earned ASU Three Rivers concurrent credit as a senior at Poyen High School during the 2001-02 academic year. He enrolled at the College for the fall of 2002 but withdrew to join his uncle’s band and make his way to Nashville to be a country music artist.

Main Street Representatives Visit Hope
Two representatives from Main Street Arkansas visited Hope on Monday. Brooke Fleming and Susan Shaddox planned to visit several retail businesses. Shaddox is the Interior Design Consultant for Main Street Arkansas. She helps businesses in historic districts with economic development. Shaddox said she uses “design” as her platform to help businesses. This can take a variety of forms such as helping with interior colors or helping a business owner preserve an architectural issue. Shaddox was helping Vintage Girls Boutique owner Connie Lavender with merchandizing. This included “color linking” groupings, especially the summer merchandise. Shaddox is a licensed interior decorator and she said she brought “fresh eyes and fresh vision” for Lavender’s business.
U of A Honors College Selects 2024 Fellows Class
The U of A Honors College has selected 91 exceptional high school students, including 80 from Arkansas, to receive Honors College Fellowships. The fellowships, which award up to $80,000, largely cover tuition, fees, books, room and board, and other academic expenses over four years, providing these students the freedom to pursue original research, study abroad, service learning and other academic interests.
