Snow College Announces Death of Student-Athlete
Snow College is deeply saddened to announce the death of a member of our men's wrestling team. Luke Peltier, a sophomore from Palmer, Alaska, was traveling eastbound on I-70 near milepost 28. On a section of the highway that gradually veers right, the vehicle crossed into the median and crashed. "Snow College athletics mourns this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. We are so sorry," Rob Nielson, Snow College Athletic Director said.
Fistfight led to fatal shooting outside Anchorage bar, police say
Anchorage police say a fight between two women outside a downtown bar early Sunday escalated to an exchange of gunfire between two men that left one of the men dead. In an updated statement Wednesday, police say two people – Patricia Avery, 30, and Markin L. Giddins, 38 – have now been charged with evidence tampering in the shooting that killed 30-year-old Tahjeay Baldwin. Avery is also charged with fourth-degree assault.

Temperatures in Anchorage will reach the upper 60s with the Mat-Su seeing highs in the low 70s. A vehicle crash with injuries has closed the Seward Highway south of Anchorage on Saturday, snarling traffic and contributing to long delays on a busy summer weekend. Anchorage police said in an alert around noon Saturday that they responded to a “serious injury vehicle crash” that occurred at Mile 114, south of the Potter Marsh Weigh Station. It wasn’t immediately clear from the alert how many vehicles may have been involved or how many people may have been injured.
