Fire danger remains high as temperatures warm above average
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Summers in Alaska are known for their sharp contrast to winter, and this summer that is proving true. For the third weekend in a row, temperatures will likely climb to the 70s in Anchorage with even warmer weather likely in the Mat-Su. It’s been more than two weeks since Anchorage has seen any significant or widespread rain. The dry trend will likely continue through the weekend and into next week. The one chance for rain will be Sunday evening as moisture moves in from the south. Showers are likely for the Kenai Peninsula but Anchorage and further north only have a chance for a brief light rain before quickly returning to dry weather Monday.
