Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, Gaston Co. to combine
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Boards of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region and Habitat Gaston County will be combining, the boards announced Tuesday. The two will operate under the Habitat Charlotte Region name and work with low-to-moderate-income homebuyers and homeowners in Gaston, Iredell and Mecklenburg counties.
South Charlotte Restaurant Inspections (July 11-17)
The Mecklenburg County Health Department inspected these restaurants from July 11 to 17:. • Red Lobster, 9415 Pineville-Matthews Road – 86 Violations include: Open containers of raw fish were stored over ready-to-eat hushpuppy mix in freezer; several plates, utensils and a can opener were soiled; mashed potatoes and marinara sauce were not held hot enough; and cheese, sour cream and a tomato were not held cold enough; and a fly was on a prep table.
There's a new stretch of greenway in Huntersville
A new section of Torrence Creek Greenway is now open in Huntersville. Why it matters: Mecklenburg County is in the midst of a massive year for greenway construction. An Amazon delivery incident has prompted the company to provide coaching to a driver after a mix-up in South Charlotte resulted in an unnerved customer. Jillian Sward, a resident of the Pineville area of Mecklenburg County, reported feeling uneasy following a late-night delivery attempt on July 10. According to a Queen City News report, Sward was home alone around 9:40 p.m. when the driver rang her doorbell and appeared to try to open her front door.
