New Leash on Life Philly helps imprisoned people, rescue dogs find hope and new lives
Norberto Rob Rosa is the Senior Vice President of programs at New Leash on Life. The non-profit reentry program pairs dogs at the pound at risk of being euthanized with prisoners deemed worthy of a fresh start. The dogs live with the inmates for 11 weeks, during which they learn life skills, career readiness, and how to care for animals.By the time they graduate from the program, the pups have the training they need to be successfully adopted. The prisoners are eligible for early parolec, with a new Leash providing an additional three months of support to help them successfully re-enter society.Rosa experienced the criminal justice system at the age of 19; his 12 years in the penitentiary is what drives him to help others.Joining a prison program at Graterford changed his life and allowed him to find his purpose. There, he met Marian Marchese, who founded New Leash on Life with Rosa's help. With his love of animals, he's helping create fresh starts for both sheltered dogs and prisoners.New Leash on Life| Instagram |Facebook
Survey says NJ not even close to state eating the most bagels
New Jersey getting beaten in any category having to do with bagels is like LeBron being beaten in a pickup game by a 10-year-old. New Jersey loves its bagels as much as its pizza. Ours are just as good as New York’s. Maybe better. We certainly have more character and creativity to offer at New Jersey bagel shops than they do.
Middle of nowhere NJ restaurant racks up accolades, now from NYT
Before you even try to understand what Sweet Amalia Market & Kitchen is all about, you need to know about a place called Newfield. It’s one of those blink-and-you-miss-it places. It’s a tiny borough in Gloucester County that has fewer than 2,000 people. It sits north of beleaguered Vineland. You could say it’s one of those towns in the middle of nowhere.

We’ve made it to October, which means we are officially in peak Spooky Season, and I couldn’t be more excited. As much as I hate winter's impending annoyance, I love fall. Hoodies, apple cider, pumpkin spice (yeah, call me basic, I don’t care!), horror movies, you name it. October is a month for spooktacular fun.
Good luck guessing what was voted best fall food in NJ
A pop culture and finance website called Wealth of Geeks recently surveyed 3,000 people across the country about their favorite fall foods. So, you fall folks who can’t see that summer is the best season get all daydreamy about your apple cider and the crunching leaves under your feet. You’d be more than happy to get hopelessly lost in a corn maze and miss a Giants game on a Sunday afternoon.
