Donald Trump Jr. trashed critics “questioning” his father’s injury following an assassination attempt over the weekend at a Pennsylvania rally.
Trump Jr. joined Fox & Friends on Wednesday, and co-host Ainsley Earhardt asked him about media figures “questioning his father, former President Donald Trump, after he showed up to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sporting a bandage on his ear after being struck at his rally.
In one MSNBC clip, Michael Steele said, “There are a lot of questions around that ear, and yet there’s been no response to that. Instead just showing the image of the man coming into the hall with a wounded ear.” Ari Melber meanwhile called it a “spectacle” for the room Trump was walking into.
Besides Trump’s injury, one rally-goer was fatally shot, and two others were injured. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, was killed by the Secret Service.
“He wasn’t shot in the fact enough for them. It wasn’t enough,” a shocked Trump Jr. said.
Trump Jr.’s Fox appearance followed his claim — earlier in the week — that he’d been “black-balled” by Fox News, something the network denied, pointing out he’d been interviewed by a correspondent at the RNC shortly before that declaration.
Trump Jr. slammed his father’s media critics as “asinine” for piling onto the former president so shortly after the assassination attempt.
“They can’t help themselves. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is real. It’s so asinine that they could say that. You’ve seen the photograph at the time. There’s blood everywhere,” he said.
Trump Jr. also reacted to a clip of him telling an MSNBC reporter to “get out of here” at the RNC when the two got into a back and forth on Donald Trump and whether he could present a message of “unity” following the shooting. Trump Jr. eventually called the reporter a “clown.”
“Why am I even wasting my time? Because 48 hours ago, my father was shot in the head, and they can’t stop. This is the same as what they did with Russia, Russia,” he said. “Even when they knew it was wrong, they kept going. It was impeachment one, impeachment two, Democrats just as bad, they’re out there trying to bankrupt our family, they’re trying to take away my father’s business. When that doesn’t work, they try to throw him in jail.”
