‘The Answer Is No!’ FBI Director Gets Uncharacteristically Heated When Republican Suggests Bureau Was Involved in Capitol Riot

FBI Director Christopher Wray did not appreciate the line of questioning he received from Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) on Wednesday.

During a meeting of the House Judiciary Committee, Spartz asked Wray about the deadly Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of Donald Trump supporters stormed the building to try to overturn the 2020 election. The mob delayed the certification of the election results by several hours.

Since that day, right-wing media has baselessly claimed the riot was a false flag operation perpetrated by the FBI, or the “deep state.” Hundreds of people have been charged and convicted in connection with Jan. 6.

“Confidential human sources?” Spartz said, using another term for ‘informant.’ Did you have them on January 6th in the Capitol?”

“Again, I’m never gonna be getting into when and where we have, or have not used confidential human sources.”

His responses led to the following exchange:

SPARTZ: Are you willing to send the record that you had, you know, you had no confidential human sources at the Capitol on January 6th?

WRAY: As I have said consistently, I’m not going to get into where we have or have not used confidential human sources. I can tell you that, if you are asking if the violence at the Capitol on January 6th was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or agency–

    SPARTZ: Uh–

WRAY: –the answer is no! It’s a disservice to our people.

We do not appreciate the continued stonewalling on everything the House wants to know.
