Former Vice President Pence Mike made clear on Friday that he would not be involved in the 2024 presidential campaign and would not support his former boss Donald Trump.

Pence spoke at conservative radio host Erick Erickson’s annual conference called “The Gathering” and while promoting the accomplishments of the Trump administration, Pence also admonished the current state of the GOP. Notably, of all living GOP nominees for president and vice president, only former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is supporting Trump in 2024.

“The fact that we have a platform that removed 50 years of pro-life language, made no mention of the national debt, advocated massive taxes at our borders. And abandoning commitments that we have to allies around the world are deeply troubling to me and deeply disappointing,” Pence said of the current GOP platform, adding:

But I honestly believe, and make no mistake about it. You got people from all over the country or people watching all over the country. We can we can help our our candidates at every level. By speaking the truth to them respectfully.

He spoke about his role in 2024, saying , “For my part, I’m staying out of the presidential campaign.”

“For the reason that I cannot endorse this growing abandonment of our allies on the world stage that’s taken hold in parts of our party. I cannot endorse ignoring our national debt that reached $35 trillion just in the last week. I cannot support marginalizing the right to life in our party as we saw in our national platform,” he added, sticking to a similar set of issues throughout his remarks.

Pence also took aim at Trump, in a soundbite that was quickly clipped and shared online by Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign:

I cannot endorse President Trump’s continuing assertion that I should have set aside my oath to defend the Constitution and acted in a way that would have overturned the election in January of 2021.

Trump’s former number two has long blamed Trump for the events that transpired on Jan. 6th, which put him and members of his family in danger. Pence told Fox News in May, “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year.”
