Ann Coulter Bashes Trump as an ‘Awful, Awful Person’ — But Says She’s Voting for Him Anyway Because of JD Vance

Ann Coulter , who has vehemently opposed former President Donald Trump since early in his term in office, said Sunday she is voting for him because of his selection of Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.

Coulter clarified to C-SPAN she still believes Trump is an “awful person” but is holding out hope Vance could push for a wall on the southern border if the ticket wins in November.

The veteran conservative columnist joined Washington Journal where host Peter Slen asked her how she intended to vote in the fall.

Slen asked the author, “Who are you going to vote for in this election?”

Coulter replied, “Donald Trump, because if he loses he will be running again in four years and then he will have lost four successive elections for us. Truthfully, I really like his choice of JD Vance, which I recommended back in May. Can’t trust Trump as far as I can throw him, but I do trust JD Vance to care about the left behind people.”

Slen noted that Coulter authored the 2016 book In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome! before she soured on him.

Coulter said she stood by the book, even though she no longer trusts Trump because it offers politicians a roadmap to be more genuine.

“I wish Republican politicians would read it. I gave a copy to some of my favorite Republicans,” she said. “I do think the 2016 Trump campaign, it was one of the greatest campaigns in world history – in part because it really changed the Republican Party to a party I preferred.”

Coulter pleaded with GOP candidates to stop trying to pretend they were all just like Ronald Reagan before she ripped Trump as an “awful” human being.

“So I loved Trump coming out and saying, ‘Oh, I’m rich and going to fix the country. But the main reason, and if you read the book, by the way, I make it very clear that personally, Trump is an awful, awful person. We are making an exception this one time because we need a wall on the border.”
