President Joe Biden is reportedly still “angry” after being forced to abandon his re-election bid with his ire directed at three of the party’s most influential figures: former President Barack Obama , Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer .

Despite preparing to address a convention in Chicago aimed at reuniting the party, Biden remains “frustrated and angry” with the trio who engineered his ouster, according to multiple insiders who talked to Politico’s Playbook .

The main target of his frustration is Pelosi , whom Biden views as “ruthless” and “willing to set aside long-term relationships” in her determination to prevent former President Donald Trump from reclaiming the White House. A senior White House official told Politico: “That’s who she has always been.”

While another individual within the administration said that Biden has “grudgingly” come to respect Pelosi’s actions, the president telling one source that she “did what she had to do” to give Democrats the best chance in November, the betrayal still apparently stings.

One senior administration official remarked: “Nancy ultimately is the party chair,” alluding to her political lineage and her father’s reputation for political maneuvering.

The Biden-Obama relationship has also been strained following Biden’s drop from the race. According to sources, Biden reportedly “harbors resentment” that his former boss didn’t directly voice concerns about his campaign after a disastrous debate in Atlanta. Although Obama didn’t openly and actively appear to push for Biden’s removal, Politico’s writers note that his silence was deafening.

Meanwhile, Schumer appears to have a slightly less fractured relationship with Biden, but the tension is palpable. While Biden spoke to Schumer on the day he withdrew from the race, he remains “miffed” that Schumer, too, played a role in pressuring his departure campaign.

As the Democratic convention kicks off, the wounds within the party are still fresh, leaving many to wonder how united the Democrats will be heading into the November elections.
