‘So Stupid!’ Megyn Kelly Slams Trump Over Obsession with Crowd Size Conspiracy Theories

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly slammed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump over his obsession with crowd-size conspiracy theories on Wednesday, exclaiming that it’s “so stupid!” as one of her guests accused the former president of “spinning out” in recent weeks.

The segment on her SiriusXM radio show began with Kelly reading off a number of recent polls that she said “are not going in the right direction for Team Trump” and dismissing “Trump’s defenders'” insistence that the surveys are oversampling Democrats.

“Look, it’s across the board. He’s fallen in left-leaning polls, he’s fallen in right-leaning polls,” she said. “This is reality, and the Trump team needs to deal with reality if it wants to win.”

Kelly went on to go over the polls and speculate that Trump might be in trouble not only in the swing states he’s hoping to flip after losing in 2020, but in North Carolina, which he won in both 2016 and 2020.

“If Trump spends more time complaining about depictions of the crowd size at Kamala Harris rallies, that’s gonna really seal the deal for him,” offered Reason Magazine editor-at-large Matt Welch sarcastically. “That’s gonna get the swing state voters.”

“So unsmart,” replied an exasperated Kelly. “So dumb! If you’re listening, audience, he’s [Trump] claiming that the crowds, the big crowds outside of her [Harris] airplane and elsewhere are AI-generated and it’s just, there’s just no proof of that. I mean, like, it was a conspiracy theory somebody started. There were all these other pictures from people who were actually there showed the huge- like are they all in on it? Like, everyone who showed up got an AI filter that they put on?”

“So stupid!” she continued. “Just focus on the damn border!”

“He’s been spinning out, pretty, like, obviously over the last couple of weeks,” submitted Welch. “There’s been whole stretches where his campaign has been disciplined and smart, including by keeping him away from cameras and stuff when that was a useful thing to do. And it just hasn’t been that the last couple of weeks, and he’s actually reminding people of the things, of the reasons why he’s so far has never shown he’s able to get even 47% of the popular vote in this country.”
